Level 14/20 11 days of trekking without exceeding 4600m. Average stages of 5 to 6 hours. The Khumbu region is particularly cold.
Who hasn’t dreamed of setting up base camp on one of the most beautiful mountains without having to sleep in a tent? The program has been specially designed to make your dream come true. By trekking from lodge to lodge, you can fully enjoy the Khumbu, a cold region with all the discomforts of camping. Ama Dablam is one of the most beautiful mountains in the world. Its name means “mother’s necklace” because of the long ridges on either side, reminiscent of a mother’s arms (“ama”) protecting her child, and the hanging glacier, representing the “dablam,” the traditional double pendant containing images of deities worn by Sherpa women.
Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Ama Dablam, Thamserku, Kongde Ri… all these legendary Khumbu mountains within easy reach! This 11-day trek lets you discover the most beautiful peaks of the Khumbu range without exceeding 4,600 meters in altitude: a real treat!
Departing from Kathmandu aboard a small Twin Otter, you’ll fly along the Himalayan range for 45 minutes before landing in Lukla, where your team awaits. The trek follows the Dudh Kosi Valley, meaning “milk river” in Nepali due to its milky waters, passing through Phakding and arriving in Namche, the Sherpa capital nestled in a beautiful amphitheater. The route then makes a round trip to Thame, a charming Sherpa village off the beaten track. From Namche, you’ll ascend to Thengboche and its monastery, the largest in the Khumbu region, situated in a stunning location opposite Ama Dablam. A short trek will take you to Pangboche, the village closest to base camp. You’ll have a day trip north of this village to further acclimatize before the day of your ascent to the foot of this magnificent mountain. The return journey follows the same route, all downhill.
